|Today, there are many choices to consider when having a baby. Nason Hospital provides many options for parents-to-be. Increasingly, women have become familiar with the concept of nurse midwifery. Nason OB/GYN provides complete women’s health care.
A midwife is a trained professional with special expertise in helping women to maintain a healthy pregnancy and birth. The Nason OB/GYN practice, in combination with the hospital, offers expert individualized care, counseling, prenatal education, and postpartum support. The midwife and OB/GYN physicians work with each woman and her family to identify physical, social, and emotional needs. An OB/GYN is always on-call for consultation or complications.
No matter how many times, having a baby is a transition from one stage in life to another. Every birth is unique. A certified nurse midwife can assist mothers in the normal, natural process of labor and delivery and help women realize the joy of giving birth.
The CNM Cares for Women in Many Ways:
During pregnancy, the CNM regularly monitors the health of you and your baby.
During labor, the CNM evaluates your progress and is there to offer emotional support. You can expect the CNM to listen to your needs and to involve your family to the fullest extent possible.
The CNM provides follow-up care immediately after birth, which includes providing advice on breastfeeding and infant care and ensuring that the woman maintains her health after childbirth.
The CNM consults with a physician if there is a problem that may put a woman at risk. An OB/GYN physician is always on-call for complications.
The CNM care is covered by private insurance carriers, Medicare, Medicaid, and many managed care programs. CNM services are also covered under the Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Uniformed Services (CHAMPUS-Tricare).
